Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

The City of Saskatoon – also known as the “Paris of the Prairies” – will be the host city for ISAZ 2025! Saskatoon is in Central Canada, and is accessible via an international airport, with direct flights coming from many major cities across North America. Saskatoon is a large city with a “small-town” feel, given its expansive green space with a population nearing 300,000.

Saskatoon is infused by a lively ambience, warm prairie hospitality, and blessed with the stunning South Saskatchewan River winding through the heart of the city. Only steps away from the USask campus and downtown core, there are ample opportunities for riverfront strolls, river cruises, and breathtaking views of the riverbanks and city skyline – along with sightings of natural wildlife (like beavers, coyotes, and moose) that call the city home.

Saskatoon is recognized for being rich in diverse cultural experiences where it frequently welcomes visitors who delight in the city's mix of events, festivals, and attractions. DiscoverSaskatoon has a listing of available day trip itineraries or activities for those who wish to explore the must-visit award-winning restaurants or tourist attractions, as well as a regularly updated calendar for local events. The low-cost of living makes it an ideal vacation spot with incredible weather in the summer months; we boast above-average sunshine hours each year compared to the rest of Canada, along with exposure to the “Northern Lights” (or “aurora borealis”) phenomenon often painting our skies late at night.

Saskatoon also has a vibrant art scene. Visitors often stop in to see the local Remai Modern, a cutting-edge art museum showcasing contemporary and Indigenous artworks, alongside the most comprehensive collection of linocuts that exist by famous artist Pablo Picasso. Further, Saskatoon is home to the Wanuskewin Heritage Park, where visitors can delve into thousands of years of Indigenous history through interactive exhibits and guided tours, as well as see the free-roaming Prairie Bison (Buffalo) in their natural habitat.

For attendees wanting to stay longer: there is access to dozens of conservation areas (such as Beaver Creek Conservation Area, and the healing Saltwater Lake at Little Manitou Beach), nationalprovincial, and regional parks within driving distance of the city limits. More of these experiences can be found through Tourism Saskatchewan - Visit Discover Saskatoon, DTNYXE, and Tourism Saskatchewan for more inspiration on what to do during your stay!

Giving Back

Like other cities across North America and the globe, Saskatoon is challenged with significant human health and social issues. We are also facing increased animal welfare issues since the COVID pandemic. Our land is also being equally challenged, with issues such as widespread wildfires and an increase of ticks being found in more urban spaces. If you feel like you would like to offer back to this space that you are visiting, here are some suggested places to make an offering:
